Commanded by the Royal Navy, one of the most extensively modified versions of the Westland Sea King is the Westland Commando HC4. Its first flight was on 26 September 79, this high capacity and iconic aircraft was very used for British operations in both Gulf Wars, The Falklands and Afghanistan.
After several years of construction, the Nimitz was launched as the 2nd nuclear aircraft carrier of the US Navy in 1972. She is the biggest warship in the world - not only has room for a crew of over 6000 men, but for about 100 aircraft as well. The U.S.S. Roosevelt is the 4th carrier of the Nimitz class and was launched in 1984. With a crew of 8000 men, this carrier is capable of supporting 100 aircrafts and of cruising 13 years without refueling.
The aircraft carrier U.S.S. Kitty Hawk CV 63 entered service in April 1961 after a prolonged project based upon the Forrestal class. During the last 30 years the Kitty Hawk has been altered considerably, specially in what concerns defence armament and electronic equipment. These up-dates keep the carrier in maximum use.
The Saratoga is part of the U.S. Atlantic fleet and participated in operation Desert Storm in 1990/91. Launched in 1956, this aircraft carrier is continuously up-dated, especially its radar and electronic systems.
